After making a diplomatic pact with humankind and the other leaders of the Elder Races, Pia Cuelebre, mate to Dragos Cuelebre, Lord of the Wyr, reluctantly heads to Hollywood to spend a week with the Light Fae Queen, Tatiana, before the busy Masque season hits New York in December.
Dragos has never let the lack of an invitation stop him from doing anything he wanted. Unwilling to let his mate make the trip without him, he travels to southern California in secret to be with her.
But when an ancient enemy launches a shattering assault against the Light Fae, Dragos and Pia must intercede. The destruction threatens to spread and strike a mortal blow against all of the magically gifted, both human and Elder Race alike.
Working with the Light Fae to neutralize the danger, Dragos and Pia find their deepest vulnerabilities challenged and their most closely held secrets threatened with exposure.
PIA DOES HOLLYWOOD is the second part of a three-story series about Pia, Dragos, and and their son, Liam. Each story stands alone, but fans might want to read all three DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON, PIA DOES HOLLYWOOD, and LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN.
Pia Does Hollywood A Novella of the Elder Races eBook Thea Harrison
OH, how I love the Cuelebres. Dragos and his arrogant, demanding, but utterly devoted ways. Pia and her dedication to seeing things through. They're just so intense. It tickles me pink how consumed they are by one another. And how they don't let their deep commitment to each other take away from their time with Liam.Don't think that just because this is a novella, it skimps on story. We got to see some of the ramifications from Dragos's memory loss (oopsies!) and how he's planning ahead for a future that might see the Wyr leaving all they've known behind. Plus, there's the newest addition to the Cuelebre family and everything that entails. And, you know, zombies. So, yeah. There's plenty of story here.
I always get a giddy little thrill when we see mentions of events that took place in previous books. While Melly's abduction in book 8 ultimately didn't impact the Wyr, it hit close to home for both Tatiana and Bailey. Seeing the fallout from that through Pia's eyes intrigued me.
Honestly, I adore this series like whoa and am happy to spend as much time as I can in this world. It's crazy and complicated and even when I *know* things are going to turn out just fine, I get a little tense waiting for it to happen. Which is AWESOME!

Pia Does Hollywood A Novella of the Elder Races eBook Thea Harrison Reviews
Elder Races 8.6
It is time for Pia Cuelebre to spend her mandated week in Los Angeles with the Light Fae Queen Tatiana. Not thrilled to be separated from his mate, Dragos goes there as well, cloaked and incognito. It isn't long before they discover something is very wrong among the magical inhabitants, something that could even affect Dragos himself.
Whoosh, this might be a novella, but there was a heap of danger and love and horror packed into its smaller form. The secrets held by Dragos and Pia are beginning to escape, but so far only with those who are allies, if not friends. I look forward to learning more about Morgan. It appears that he isn't entirely 100% baddie. But he definitely has a MOAS (Mother of All Secrets) of his own. 5 out of 5.
This is book 2 of a trio of novellas featuring Dragos, Pia, and finally their son, Liam. Pia is traveling to Southern California to stay a week with Tatiana, Queen of the Light Fae demense. After the recent troubles, the human government and the Elder Races have agreed to improve inter-demense communication and relations in the way human aristocrats used to trade their family members among themselves as unofficial hostages. Trouble is already ongoing when Pia arrives and Dragos, traveling in dragon form separately and unannounced, stumbles into it without warning. The consequences of his encounter are life-threatening for not just Dragos, but all Elderkind, magical humans, and the entire human race will suffer if it cannot be stopped. The book also furthers the overall storyline of Pia's new pregnancy, Dragos's memory loss, and we learn a little about the Light Fae split between Tatiana and her twin sister, Isabeau, who rules the Light Fae in Great Britain. I love this whole paranormal series and always pre-order upcoming books. Thea Harrison is a must buy for me. I highly recommend beginning with the first book of the series and reading in order to get the full enjoyment of a rich world filled with magical creatures both good and evil.
"Pia was the crown jewel in the dragon's hoard."
FINAL DECISION Filled with intense scenes between Dragos and Pia, the novella adds to the Elder Races storyline while exploring a deeply personal plot that threatens both Pia and Dragos.
THE STORY The diplomatic pact made in DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON means that a member of each demesnes ruling family must travel and stay with another demesne ruling family in order to foster peace and develop relationships. As a result, Pia has to spend a week with the Light Fae Queen in Hollywood. Dragos is not invited but has no intention of allowing Pia to go without him. He travels secretly to California. There are deadly secrets in Hollywood and they put Pia and Dragos in danger. In the process, the secrets that Dragos and Pia are keeping also are threatened to be revealed.
OPINION I love Dragos and Pia. I would be pleased just to get an update on what they are doing (along with their adorable and amazing son Liam), but this novella ends up being a tense action suspense story that is immensely satisfying.
Dragos and Pia's strong loving relationship is intensely sexual as well. Even this short novella depicts how much these two love and want one another. Fans of Dragos and Pia should be pleased to see that their relationship is well but still deepening and becoming more complex.
This novella also deals with the difficult relationship between the demesnes. Readers of the series know that distrust typifies the dealings between the different elder races. This time the suspicion and mistrust puts all the races in danger -- and especially Dragos and Pia. The political dealings are always a highlight in this series and the interactions between Dragos and the Queen are really good stuff.
Finally, the action adventure plot surprises with its tension and drama. While I knew that everything would resolve itself in the end, I had to restrain myself from reading ahead to assure myself of it -- the story was tense and people are in real danger. The introduction of new characters also hints at future storylines.
This novella has a lot of stuff for fans to dig into for the future.
WORTH MENTIONING Stinkpot.
CONNECTED BOOKS PIA DOES HOLLYWOOD is book 8.6 in the Elder Races series. It is also the second book in the novella trilogy that began with DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON. This novella can be read as a standalone. I do recommend, however, that readers first DRAGON BOUND and LORD'S FALL which are both about Dragos and Pia. While PIA DOES HOLLLYWOOD can be read apart from DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON, this novella continues the overarching story begun in that novella.
STAR RATING I give this novella 5 stars.
